How To Pick The Right Lawn Mower Rental

by Heidi Wheeler

You could purchase and store a lawn mower all year-round. But if you do not have to mow your lawn very often, you may decide to instead rent a lawn mower. Then, it will come down to the type of lawn you have and whether you would like to push your mower, ride it or leave it to operate on its own.

Manual Reel Mowers

A manual reel motor is ideal for small yards and for when you would like to save money on electricity or gasoline. Reel mowers tend to cut grass more cleanly than gas or electric-powered motors. As a result, they are more likely to make your lawn look like it has been professionally manicured. However, it is also a lot of work to use one on a very large property.

Electric Mowers

Corded lawn mowers do not produce emissions and are ideal for small yards. However, it is usually difficult to mow around the cord. Cordless electric mowers, on the other hand, rely on a battery.

Gas-Powered Mowers

For larger lawns, you will usually need a gas-powered lawn mower that can continue to operate as you cut your entire lawn. A push-behind lawn mower is ideal if you'd like to get a workout and need a lawn mower that does not take up a lot of space. If you do have more space, you may want a riding mower that operates similar to riding a go-kart.

Tractor Mowers

A more powerful riding mower is a lawn tractor or a garden tractor. Best of all are zero-radius mowers that are ideal for lawns that have a lot of obstacles that you will have to maneuver around. One of the criticisms of these types is that they are seen as being difficult to operate. However, newer models are designed to operate just like cars, with foot and gas pedals. They also tend to come with more options, such as allowing you to collect the grass clippings for mulching or leave them behind.

Robotic Mowers

Robotic lawn mowers allow you to skip over actually mowing the lawn yourself. They are solar-powered and can travel up and down slopes. The sensor detects the height of the grass and cuts the grass to the appropriate length.

If you are not sure which of these mowers you would like to use, renting one is a great choice because you'll have an opportunity to give it a try. For more information, contact an equipment rental company.
